Lauryn Bosstick, The Skinny Confidential

The past 12 months have been a busy time for Lauryn Bosstick, who hosts The Skinny Confidential Him & Her podcast with her husband, Michael Bosstick, and founded a beauty brand, also dubbed The Skinny Confidential. In September, she expanded the brand into the body care category with a body sculpting device called Le Spoon. In addition, her company collaborated with canned cocktail brand Spritz Society in March and expanded to Nordstrom with select beauty tools in October.

Melissa Butler, The Lip Bar

Melissa Butler, founder and CEO of The Lip Bar, has had multiple major wins this year. Starting back in February, The Lip Bar deepened its Target distribution from placement on three shelves to 24, marking an increase of approximately 700%. At the same time, it became the largest Black-owned brand at Target.

Jack Carlson, Rowing Blazers

Six years after starting NYC-based Rowing Blazers with fashion industry veteran David Rosenzweig, designer Jack Carlson is seeing his dreams for the preppy apparel brand come true. Rowing Blazers’ three biggest collaborations to date, in terms of “moving the needle,” rolled out this year, he said. Among them was a 100-plus-piece collection with Target that launched in the retailer’s nationwide stores in September.

Along with growing its commerce business, Pinterest has made progress on goals surrounding search responsibility and inclusivity. The latter has been driven by a computer-vision AI technology spearheaded by chief product officer Sabrina Ellis and her team of engineers and designers.

Live Tinted received $10 million in Series A funding in March and expanded into Sephora Canada in July. Already, the brand was available for purchase in Ulta Beauty and Target. But Deepica Mutyala, founder and CEO, said this is only the beginning for the brand.

Lana Todorovich, Neiman Marcus

Lana Todorovich, Neiman Marcus’s president and chief merchandising officer, has led the retailer’s strategy to partner with high-end brands on unique campaigns. They’ve included teaming with Christian Louboutin on a swimming pool-inspired installation at the Dallas store, hosting a straight-from-the-Paris-runway viewing of Akris’s 100-year anniversary collection at Neiman Marcus’s Chicago location and wrapping the Atlanta store in Burberry’s TB monogram logo.
