On Monday, Glossy’s annual Beauty x Wellness Summit kicked off in Santa Barbara California. The three-day event gathers leaders across both industries to discuss strategies and pain points, discover innovative partners, and, ultimately, make valuable business connections.
The beauty and wellness categories are growing and ever-evolving. According to market data company Statista, the global beauty market will reach $625.7 billion in sales this year, with personal care leading the category with a market volume of $274.2 billion. Meanwhile, Statista estimates the wellness market will be worth $7 trillion by 2025.
It makes sense both markets are booming. Ongoing trends are leading consumers deeper into both categories. In beauty, that includes anti-aging, clean beauty and mushrooms. On the wellness side, supplements, gut health and preventative care are seeing traction. Continuous brand launches, retail store openings and social media have also contributed.
With so many changes and advancements in the industry, beauty and wellness brands have had to adapt to retain consumers. For example, Naturium, Amika and Lawless Beauty have fine-tuned their strategies to attract shoppers. For Naturium, which specializes in body care, and Amika, a Brooklyn-based clean hair-care brand, science-backed formulas, affordable price points and a strong social media presence have worked to provide an edge. For Lawless Beauty, its focus on providing customers with clinical-level results at home has fueled its success. In August, the brand announced its foray into skin care. All three brands are being spotlighted on-site at the Beauty x Wellness Summit.
