With four days left until Election Day, streetwear is getting political.
Supreme — the brand known for elusive product drops like a $30 concrete brick that sold out within minutes — is taking a political stance for the first time in its history. In an Instagram post earlier today, the brand shared an image of professional skater Sage Elsesser holding an “I Voted” sticker with the caption “This might be the most important decision of your life, make it count. Go Vote Tuesday, November 8th.” The photo included accompanying hashtags “imwithher” and “fucktrump,” making a pointed declaration that the company is endorsing presidential candidate Hillary Clinton.
The post has nearly 80,000 likes, and has fostered heated debate among both Clinton and Trump supporters in the more than 2,000 comments accompanying the post. While many lauded Supreme’s stance, others expressed support for Trump and commented that they would stop purchasing from the brand altogether, while some expressed concern that the brand was taking a stance at all. One commenter that wrote “How is skateboarding related to politics?!” and another said “Yes, vote, but do your research and think for yourself.”
Supreme joins several fashion brands that have endorsed Hillary Clinton, including Diane von Furstenberg, Donna Karan, and Prabal Gurung, among others. While some have made verbal announcements, others have made splashier statements, including Marc Jacobs who appeared at this New York Fashion Week show along with Anna Wintour, editor-in-chief of Vogue, both wearing shirts in support of Clinton.

Designers like Tanya Taylor, Jason Wu, Thakoon and Tory Burch also designed shirts for the effort, several of which are currently sold out on the site.
