This profile is part of the Glossy Pop Guide to Influencer-Founded Brands, covering the fashion, beauty and wellness companies started by people who built their careers on social media.  More from the series →

Arielle Charnas started her blog, Something Navy, as a side hobby in 2009. She focused on bringing her most authentic self to her platform while also sharing fashion finds and lifestyle tips. Over 10 years later, Something Navy has evolved into a lifestyle and media brand with over a million Instagram followers. It sells women’s and children’s apparel, sleepwear, and home and bath collections, and has opened five brick-and-mortar stores.

Who: Arielle Charnas (Something Navy)

Platform: Instagram

What are you known for & how did you get your start?
I am an entrepreneur and influencer. I started my blog, Something Navy, in 2009 as a side hobby. For me, the key to growing Something Navy was authenticity — not only sharing my fashion finds but also giving my community a look into my day-to-day life, so we could grow together. Now, 10+ years later, Something Navy has evolved into a massive lifestyle and media brand. We have opened five brick-and-mortar stores, and created women’s and children’s apparel, sleepwear, home and bath collections, and, most importantly, a safe, fun space for so many people.

What’s the brand: Women’s and children’s apparel, sleepwear, home and bath

Find it: Somethingnavy.com and Something Navy stores (two in NYC, 2  in CA, 1 in Dallas)

What makes the brand different?
There are so many incredible brands out there, but I think what Something Navy does really well is that we’re constantly engaging with our community to make pieces that they’re asking for and want. We’re speaking to them throughout the whole design process; from cut to color, they’re a part of the creation of each collection.

Why did you decide to bring a brand into this crowded marketplace?
My team and I are constantly engaging with the Something Navy community, and one thing we found was that no one was asking their community what they wanted. With the Something Navy brand, I wanted to deliver pieces to my community that they actually wanted and were asking for.
